I guess I am late on the news, but hearing that the top PSLE student in entire Singapore is from China, how do I feel? Honestly I feel very happy and proud? Proud that we native born Singaporeans lost out to foreign talents? No not actually. I am proud as this show that we are attracting the best from China. See this girl top entire Singapore! We are in a globalized world, in competition with every other country for talents. Successfully attracting such talents will be a key towards developing and building Singapore’s success to greater heights. Such talents should be welcome and nurtured so that they develop to their full potential. Saying that; we must not neglect our own native born Singaporeans. There must be a differentiation between Singaporeans and Permanent Residents such that Permanent Residents should not free riding upon the resources of Singaporeans. But foreigners who converted to Singaporeans should be welcomed with open arms and with no distinction as to where they were from originally.
