I have always been wandering after I took the Leadership Module, it is something I wanted to relate to, cant really figure it out. The concept of Servant Leadership especially.

I found my answer when I was revising for my GRE English Literature, John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress :

As I walked through the wilderness of this world, I lighted on a certain place where was a den, and laid me down in that place to sleep; and as I slept, I dreamed a dream. I dreamed, and behold, I saw a man clothed with rags, standing in a certain place, with his face from his own house, a book in his hand, and a great burden upon his back. Isa 64:6; Luke 14:33; Psalm 38:4. I looked and saw him open the book, and read therein; and as he read, he wept and trembled; and not being able longer to contain, he brake out with a lamentable cry, saying, “What shall I do?” Acts 2:37; 16:30; Habak 1:2,3.

Why didn’t I think of this book. Trying to relate the concept of Servant Leadership to Pilgrim’s Progress. It has been in my mind for quite sometime. Anyway it has to wait until I finished the rest of the revision. Servant Leadership is an extreme form of Leader as a servant as contrast to Leader as a master. There are many shades in between. I like the concept of Servant Leadership and believe that it is applicable especially in our paradigm of change where we are managing millionaire employees. This certainly poised a new challenge to the management.

Pilgrim's Progress

One thing I do not really like about Servant Leadership is its strong religious overtones. Maybe we can tune down the religion part and make it applicable to all.
