Chinese New Year
Chinese New Year, I remembered a long legend about an old monster called 年 who was terrifying everyone, that’s the excuse for fireworks. Not in Singapore though. 年 was scared away by the Spouting Water Merlion.
Kinda feel that Chinese New Year more or less lost its significance in Singapore. I mean among Chinese, the importance was drastically reduced. How I envy our Malay brothers and sisters who really keep their tradition well and alive. One’s tradition once lost is gone. I really hope our Malays continue their rich heritage and tradition. Learn from us Chinese, don’t lose your heritage. My side it is a rarity that the whole family can sit down and have a nice Reunion dinner, hard to get all together in the same country. Sad.
Chinese New Year, not much wishes, just hope for Health for my Family. For my country Singapore, Peace and Prosperity. The casinos are opening near Chinese New Year. I won’t visit them. But still in my heart I hope that they will be successful. They employ a lot of my countrymen. I do have much distaste with regards to gambling. But the livelihood of so many Singaporeans are at stake. Since we open them, they have to be successful. Not just successful, they must be the best in the world. I guess this is the Singapore Spirit, we aim for the Best. I am sure we will have the Best and Cleanest Casinos in the world.
