Really a tough weekend, the new 8-level subjects is tough, really a tough nut to crack. Was telling the PhD coordinator if I can take everything together. She stared at me with shock. I know why now, just taking a single module. That single module has 10 units. I glanced through the units, each unit takes 20 hours minimum. Basically reading up a book, summary of your experiences and literature review and a short dissertation APA style. Now I know why she is so shocked. But the new criteria is Master Degree Level subjects 5th level subjects aren’t taken into consideration anymore. What a waste I have 98 semester hours for those!

Doing some finishing touch on my English Literature GRE. Makes me feel that I really need to buckle up on my Chinese. It wasn’t easy to attain the standards of Chinese I had. I was from the English Stream, my Chinese teachers best fun was calling me up to write some Chinese characters on the blackboard. I told my Chinese teacher I want to go to the 1st Language stream for both English and Chinese. She told me it was impossible with my standard of Chinese and my first essay writing was a 50/100 which was already because she was lenient. I put in a lot of efforts in Chinese, the Four Books and Five Classics. The Classic of Poem First Verses:

I still can memorize the entire 4 Books and 5 Classics. Haven’t did do much research in Chinese language but I guess it is time for me at least to maintain my standards. I did entered the 1st Language Stream for Chinese finally and I was invited to be coauthor of a book on essays and stories in Chinese before I graduated from my “O” levels.

Anyway everything is tough today, traveled from East to West. Getting a taxi, just when I was about to board it, a China lady shouted at me, “Boy, your drinks order is ready”. I looked around me, no one, indicate that she was calling me? Yes? Ok, ok I ask the taxi driver please wait and I rushed up, did not even know there was a canteen there. The China lady was telling the other, she got the wrong person. She asked, are you from China . I wanted to cry, no mood to argue, told her Yes, yes yes….rush back to my taxi, that idiot disappear. No choice, call for booking, while we were talking, the taxi driver hesitated and asked, are you from Taiwan ah? I told him forget it, if you want to say China just say so. I even produce my IC to tell him I am pure local breed Singaporean. Imagine that he told me, those China guys who took Singaporean citizenship also have red IC . I was fedup, asking him what makes him so sure I am from China. He said that air conditioner, I pronounce as Kong Tiao (Kong as in Air, Tiao as in adjusting), correct mah, but he said that alone confirm I am from China. Give up!
